Rajan Pillai Foundation![]() |
Rajan Pillai Foundation established on December 20th, 1997 to perpetuate the memory of late business tycoon Mr. Rajan Pillai. Since then, the foundation has been actively involved with the intention of providing responsible social commitment particularly to uplift the poor and downtrodden sections and to encourage new breed of enterprising entrepreneurs. Unlike these, the other key objectives of the foundation are, to promote among Indian citizens excellence in a wide spectrum of activities including arts, sports, social science, medicine, serving the cause of humanity and human rights, to institute trophies and awards of appreciation among Indian citizens for achievements of international acclaim by Indians, to establish and run a Health and Care Centre providing treatment in traditional medicine like Ayurveda & Panchkarma, Naturopathy, Yoga and other forms, to establish a Worship & Meditation Centre for all major religious under one roof
Immediately after the constitution, the foundation instituted awards for outstanding achievement in the field of arts (especially in dance, classical music, violin. Veena, thabala, mridangam), that is for “KALA PRATHIBHA” and “KALA THILAKAM” of Kerala University Young Festivals and these awards have become prestigious and sought after.
The Foundation believe that encouragement of young and promising artists is necessary to unveil the hidden talents of many potential stars of future. In furtherance of these objectives the Foundation runs a KALAKSHETHRAM in the name and style - NJANADEEPAM VIDYAPEETAM SAMSKARIKA KALAKSHETHRAM AND RESEARCH CENTRE in Kollam, registered under Sangeetha Nataka Academy, Trichur. The centre trains budding artists in dance, classical music, violin, veena, thabala and mridamgam. An astrological centre is also attached with the Kalakshethram where research in astrology is taking up seriously under the guidance of able retired Professors who are masters in the subject. The centre also offers courses on our traditional and martial art - KALARY PAYATTU and the classes taken by learned and well trained masters.
Unemployment is one of the main problems that our country is facing. In Kerala the situation is extremely grave. Many young and educated persons find it difficult to get an employment. Hence the foundation instituted a self employment scheme. As per this programme Rajan Pillai Foundation gives financial aid and other help to young persons to set up their own business. The Foundation believes that self determination with financial aid can do a lot to mitigate the growing the menace of unemployment. Many persons are being benefitted from the scheme.
In connection with this scheme, a sewing machine has been delivered to CHINMAYA MISSION at Kollam, where the unemployed young females are trained in order to stand on their own foot.
The words of late Mr. Janardhanan Mohandas Rajan Pillai has given the inspiration to institute the scheme. Basically one should have a vision, a goal, a fool- proof game plan. Courage and hard work- along with these- luck, is essential for success.
Late Rajan Pillai was very much interested in sports. In order to commemorate his interest in sports, the foundation has sponsored the tournament, ALL INDIA JUNIOR TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP held at Thiruvananthapuram in the new Millenium Year 2000. The tournament was named as `RAJAN PILLAI MEMORIAL ALL INDIA JUNIOR TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP 2000’.
Late Rajan Pillai was always friendly with children. He was always eager to promote their talents particularly in sports. Mr. Vijay Amrit Raj, the legendary Tennis player said about his association with Late Rajan Pillai:-
Rajan Pillai was a close friend of mine for many years. His interest in sports and love for children made us even closer. It was he and I who created the Britannia Amrit Raj Tennis programme that produced Wimbledon Junior Championship and today’s Indians No. 1, Leander Paes. The programme still carries on today just because it is great for kids and the country’s tennis. He was a wonderful friend and I miss him.
Another scheme of the Foundation is creation of an “EMPLOYEES’ CHILDREN EDUCATION FUND”. The KJP group has more than 20000 employees in its offices and factories. Accordingly to the scheme the Foundation offers Financial Scholarships to the children of employees who secured admission to various higher studies. In fact it is the priority of the Foundation to spread educational scholarships in a much wider perceptive so that it will cover more needy persons.
One of the objectives of Rajan Pillai Foundation is creating highly competent managerial professionals from the country. In fact this must have been dear to Late Rajan Pillai also, as he was not just a self made entrepreneur and industrialist, but belonged to a rare breed of socially committed leaders of emerging generation in this country. To promote this objective, Rajan Pillai Foundation offers an award for `BEST YOUNG INDUSTRIALIST’ every year. Shortly the Foundation will come out with a detailed programme for this.
The Foundation has actively been following the objectives and has achieved sustained growth and actively will be in the picture in all aspects towards attaining the goals the Foundation aim at.
